Methodology

How geowatt measures your hotel's AI visibility

Every number in geowatt follows fixed rules. Here is how we measure, what we count and where the limits of measurement are.

01

What we measure

geowatt asks real guest questions to ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Google AI Overviews and evaluates whether and where your hotel is mentioned.

Questions are asked per guest market in the guests' language. If you host guests from Italy, you are also checked in Italian.

02

Where the guest questions come from

Questions are derived from the evidenced facts on your website: hotel type, location, amenities, target groups. Every question passes a quality check; weak questions are dropped.

The number depends on your hotel, your markets and your competitors. There is no fixed number for everyone.

Questions containing your hotel name do not count towards visibility. We measure whether AI recommends you on its own.

03

How the AI score is calculated

Every combination of topic, guest market and AI system counts equally, so a single system or a large market cannot distort the score.

Every score comes with a margin (±). Changes within that range are shown as "stable", not as a gain or loss.

We compare two checks only on the questions asked in both, so new questions never create apparent jumps.

04

When your hotel counts as mentioned

We count the main name, short forms you confirmed and a recognisable core name, because AI assistants often shorten long hotel names. Place names and descriptive words never count as a core name.

If an AI system returns no answer, it counts neither as won nor lost and does not affect the score.

05

What the Autopilot may do

The Autopilot adds Schema.org data, llms.txt and FAQ copy only with facts evidenced on your website, and publishes only above a minimum quality.

Every automatic change is logged. Hints from external sources such as web search or map data remain suggestions until you approve them.

06

How the euro estimate works

The headline figure is saved commission: room rate × nights × commission rate per direct booking instead of an OTA. The default is 15 %; you can change every value or switch the estimate off.

The estimate is labelled as an estimate. We never show growth percentages without an evidenced base.

07

Limits of measurement

AI answers vary from request to request. That is why we repeat checks regularly and show the margin.

geowatt shows what AI assistants answer today and fixes evidenced gaps. Nobody can guarantee a recommendation by an AI system.

08

Privacy and provider

The tool and shared reports work without cookies. A data processing agreement covers customer data.
