llms.txt for Hotels: What It Is, How to Create It, and Where It Belongs

The llms.txt explains your website to AI systems. Structure, hotel example, and free generator.

What Is an llms.txt?

A text file in Markdown format located at your-domain.com/llms.txt. It summarizes what the website is about and links to the most important pages. The proposal originates from llmstxt.org; support across AI providers is not yet uniform.

Structure

A heading with the name (# Hotel Name), a brief description as a blockquote (> …), followed by sections (## Rooms, ## Wellness) containing link lists.

Where Does It Belong?

In the root directory of the website, e.g., https://your-hotel.com/llms.txt – just like robots.txt. It must be accessible without JavaScript.

Common Mistakes

Marketing jargon instead of facts.

Outdated prices or opening hours.

Links to pages that no longer exist.

Created once, never maintained – which is why an automatically updated version is worthwhile.
